The Edifier S1000DB is the brand’s latest 2.0 lifestyle studio speaker system. It certainly looks the part with wooden side panels and black matte finish, but Edifier claims it also ticks all the boxes when it comes to premium sound quality.
The front facing drivers are positioned for optimum performance, delivering a hefty 120 watts in what Edifier describes as a “stylish yet simplistic form factor” with 5.5-inch aluminium bass drivers. The drivers aim to create a satisfying surge of bass.
The S1000DB has an angled design that is part of the Edifier signature in studio speakers, designed specifically for creating bigger, more focused sound. This design is robust, which makes it reduce the resonance of the sound. Attaching the grill of the S1000DB reduces the attenuation meaning you’ll get the full strength of the sound signal.
While the majority of dome tweeters are made from plastic or aluminium, the S1000DB has a titanium dome tweeter to create a smooth response rate. A hard metallic mesh protects the tweeter, and the titanium also helps give an excellent dispersion and better sensitivity than plastic tweeters.
The S1000DB features Bluetooth aptX so you can stream sound wirelessly delivering CD-like quality — you can connect to a mobile phone, tablet or laptop. Alternatively you can connect via optical, coaxial, PC and AUX inputs. The speakers also come with a wireless remote control to switch between inputs.
You can pick up a S1000DB online for $699.
