There’s another reason to install the iOS 9.2 software update that Apple released yesterday, particularly if you have an iPad Pro. The company says it may fix the issue of the tablet becoming unresponsive after charging, noted AppleInsider on Wednesday.

That problem surfaced for many iPad Pro owners last monthand until now, Apple’s only solution – temporary, at best – was to reset the tablet by holding the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for 10 seconds.

Although I haven’t experienced the problem on my iPad Pro, enough people did that Apple created a support document to explain the short term fix.

That document is now updated to include the following: “Updating your iPad Pro to iOS 9.2 or later might prevent this issue from occurring in the future.”

Using the phrase “might prevent” doesn’t quite inspire confidence that Apple has determined the root cause and fixed it, however.

Indeed, it could be a very specific hardware problem based on a power supply component or some other part, so it’s worth watching to see if Apple continues to update the support page as it learns more about the issue.
