GoPro announced its earnings for the first quarter of 2016, and the details are not so good. Revenues fell by as much as 49.5% compared to the same period of 2015. The profit was $22 million, but now the loss is $121 million.
The company also announced that the new drone, Karma, will be delayed until the end of 2016. Initially it was announced that he will be presented in early 2016.
The news comes after a disappointing fourth quarter for GoPro in 2015. The company sold 6.6 million in total action cameras throughout 2015, but in Q4 revenues were $200 million less than the same period in 2014.
Earlier this year the company launched Hero 4 Session, the first action camera of the company with major design changes. But weak sales forced to reduce the price of the camera in half. These and other circumstances have cost the GoPro $57 million loss.
However drones and systems of cameras that capture video in 360 degrees is a new opportunity for GoPro. With them, the company hopes to increase its revenues in the next 2017.
